We are starting an interest list for a Collage Quilt class
Please read all the information if you are interested, this class has some important things to know
Firstly, this is JUST AN INTEREST list, you are NOT signed up, it just gives us an idea of how many people would consider taking the class.
Secondly, this class will NOT be run this year, it will probably be around March/April of next year, or later depending on what you would prefer. The reason why is because this class is time and cost intensive. There are a number of supplies you will be REQUIRED to have prior to taking the class, along with purchasing the fabric kit for this class.
You MUST purchase the fabric kit from Quilt N Go. This non-negotiable. This particular class requires around a 100 different prints to be done properly, and we don't have the time or room for people to be bringing in totes of fabric for this.
This class will be a multi-day class, we are thinking a Friday and Saturday, but we could potentially do two consecutive Saturday classes if that works better for you. At the end of the class the top of this project will be completed, and Melissa will instruct you on how to finish it. There is NO sewing involved in this class, so you will not be bringing a machine.
SUPPLIES:
- You will need a pattern (there are 3 different ones that we are considering, the sewing machine, bee, and pincushion. Let us know which one you are interested in when you sign up for the interest list and the one with the most votes is the one we will do!). Patterns run $30 each.
- The Fabric Kit (rough estimate of price is about $75)
- Pattern Ease
- 10 yards of 24" Steam A Seam 2, YOU CANNOT USE THE LITE, you must get the original Steam A Seam 2
- An Applique Mat (Melissa recommends the Precision Fusing Mat, but something similar would work too!)
- If your mat doesn't come with a Teflon sheet, you will need one of those too
- Karen K Buckley Perfect Scissors in the size Medium (the blue handled ones). The scissors need to have the serrated blades to prevent fraying. If you have the small green ones that is fine, the blue ones would just be more comfortable.
- A cheap iron. Melissa says a $10 black and decker iron or something similar would be PERFECT. This class involves a LOT of fusing, and she doesn't want you to get the fusible on your good iron. Even with the Teflon sheet, it is possible it could still get messy.
- An ironing table. Since every student will need an ironing station, and will be using it a lot using the shop iron for this class is not possible. Melissa says a tv tray with an ironing mat on it is just fine! You can bring an actual ironing board as well if you like.
