Our next class is a Back basting needle turn applique class. If you do hand applique and don't know about this technique, you NEED to get in on this class! Ruth has been doing hand applique for 40 years, and has been using the back basting needle turn method for the last 5 years and swears she will never use another technique for hand applique again. It saves time, energy, material, and headaches.
We had a few cancellations so we have a few rooms left if you are interested in attending the retreat! Call us ASAP to reserve your spot if you would like to go to our retreat in Shipshewana! The cost covers your room, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and the 4 conference rooms we book for our sewing room! You'll have a blast, trust us!
Who's ready for spring and bright colors? Keep your eyes open for a new line of bright, colorful prints and panels coming from In The Beginning Fabrics. "Summer" should arrive in the shop in April, "Autumn" arrives in July, and "Winter" arrives in October. "Spring" is not pictured. ILLUSIONS BLOCK OF THE MONTH ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!
Dorene is working hard on getting your block of the month cut, and she is now ready to start thinking about oopsie kits! Would you be interested in purchasing an oopsie kit for the Illusions block of the month?

It would consist of 9 fat eighths, one in each bright color of the main fabrics. If you need the background fabrics, you will be able to order that separate.
We also have the 108" wide backing that goes with this project. If you know for sure you would like this backing, please let us know and we will get it cut and hold it for you.
This wide back is a 108" Batik that was custom made for this block of the month!
We are creating an interest list for this new Block of the Month called "Masterpiece". It starts in May of this year. This quilt will be big! It is a 108" square. The price will be $24 per month and includes all fabrics for the top, binding and pattern. You have to see these fabrics to realize just how rich and beautiful these jewel tones are. The picture does not do this quilt justice.
Please remember the interest list does NOT mean you are signed up for "Masterpiece", it just gives us an idea of how much fabric we need to order, so if you think you might want to do this block of the month please let us know and we will put you on the interest list.

May 14 quilted pillow from beginning to finish $45 taught by melissa
Students will make a Flying Dutchman quilted 18" pillow from start to finish in this class. you will learn how to make flying geese using the 4-in-1 method as well as how to make an envelope pillow back, use your walking foot attachment, and attach binding.
May 28 Back Basting Needle Turn Applique $45 taught by Ruth
Class cost includes a kit. Learn how to do hand applique the easy way with this technique class. No glue, no freezer paper, no templates!
June 4 Beginning Paper Piecing $45 taught by Ruth
Students will make a 8" x 8" block made up of 4 paper-pieced squares forming a star flower. Learn a valuable skill to take your quilting to the next level! Paper piecing is a timeless art, and with Ruth's help you'll soon be on your way to mastering this talent.
